Coming from a global HR background, part of what attracted me to Rutgers was the opportunity to work internationally. From researching at the Sorbonne in Paris, to teaching our MHRM in Singapore, to setting up our joint Executive Master in Human Resource Management program with SDA Bocconi in Milan – the global vision and reach of Rutgers has enabled me personally to have an exciting and varied international career.

We not only have the largest concentration of HR faculty in the world, we also have the single largest concentration of researchers who study international HR issues. This fact attracts many visiting international scholars to our HR Department. Many of our international colleagues have visited us to collaborate on research and, while they are here, have given guest lectures in our classes – sharing their unique experiences with our faculty and students. Our international visitors bring a unique and important dimension to the students’ classroom experience.

This international flavor is further enhanced by the composition of our wonderfully diverse student body. The variety of experiences and perspectives our students bring to the classroom dialogue adds to the richness of the overall academic experience for faculty and students alike. We definitely have a cosmopolitan flair that sets us apart from any other HR program in the world.

There are a number of global work and research opportunities open to our students as well – from the Chelius International Internship that sponsors a student to live, work, and learn in another country to the CHRS Student Research Fellows Program that gives students the opportunity to do high-level research work with global organizations. One of our students in the CHRS Student Research Fellows Program was assigned to Nokia and traveled to the Nokia headquarters in Finland to work on her project. Another student in the CHRS Student Research Fellows program was sent to Mexico, China and the UK while working on his research project for AstraZeneca. These programs are just two of the many wonderful opportunities Rutgers offers its MHRM students, enabling them to expand their knowledge – and their resumes – and positioning them for future global careers.
