The flexibility and opportunity offered by our off-campus courses are one of the great strengths of our program. We’re here to serve the people of NJ, and we’re always willing to set up an off-campus program if there are enough students interested in participating. Independently or in partnership with other organizations or institutions, our off-campus courses serve to broaden our academic reach and diversify our student population.
Unlike the off-campus programs offered by some institutions, our off-campus courses meet the same rigorous academic standards as those we offer on campus. Regular faculty teaches the same curriculum both on and off campus, and both sets of students are able to receive the same world-renowned degree. Although we’ve got experience with distance learning and use the web for online posting of assignments, readings, and exam results we use technology to enhance, not replace, face-to-face communication.
We can also customize programs to fit the specific needs of organizations making the information more relevant for the students and enabling the organization to get concrete results that can be implemented in the workplace. For IBM, we set up a program that heavily utilized videoconferencing; for Prudential, we developed a highly customized program for their disability management group. This particular program was composed of our standard courses as well as courses developed specifically for the program that utilized leading disability experts from outside the university.
Organizations get the quality of a Rutgers degree; Rutgers gets a direct connection to real world issues and concerns. If people change jobs, they still have access to the program; if off-campus students want to finish their program early, they can always take courses on campus as well. Supported by the standards and the resources of the Rutgers MHRM program, one of our off-campus courses isn’t just another company training program; it’s like a campus in your conference room.
