Given the broad national trend of retirements in senior leadership positions in community colleges, the National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE) created the New Workforce Professionals Academy to provide peer-learning, mentoring, and networking to educational professionals who are new to the field.

The goal of the academy is to increase the knowledge base and leadership skills of new professionals by helping them achieve success in workforce education and advance more quickly as future leaders.

The Rutgers Education & Employment Research Center (EERC) conducted a two-year evaluation of the program by gathering information and providing feedback throughout the project to help guide ongoing improvements. EERC also created and fielded online surveys for participants at several crucial points during their training and surveyed mentors at the start and end of the program.
