Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) held its 13th annual Convocation at the Louis Brown Athletic Center on May 14, 2016. More than 450 students attended the event, with a total of 800 students receiving their degrees from the school.

On May 12, 2016, Rutgers' Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) at Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) convened local and national labor unions, worker centers, community organizing groups, and civic tech innovators for a day-long meeting at the National Education Association in Washington, DC, focused on innovation in membership building.

We are pleased to announce that Rutgers' Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) Director and Professor Marilyn Sneiderman has been elected Vice President for Universities at the United Association of Labor Educators (UALE).

On April 14, 2016 at Union County College, Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations Dean James Hayton and Dr. Padma Arvind, Director of the New Jersey Healthcare Talent Network, joined officials from New Jersey's Department of Labor and Workforce Development as Governor Chris Christie announced the launch of three new Talent Development Centers—one at Rutgers SMLR—which will promote industry partnerships with the state’s higher education institutions.

The Northeast TURN and New Jersey Collaborative School Leadership Initiative Conference brought together more than 70 educators and members of teacher associations from districts across several northeastern states to further discuss ways to cultivate a culture of collaboration at their school sites.
