WILL Empower: Conversation with Chanda Parmar-Bonta
Tue, 07/20/21 - 7:00pm -8:15pm

WILL Empower's Young Womxn's Labor Leadership group invites young people interested in the labor movement and progressive organizing to a conversation with labor leader, Chanda Parmar-Bonta of the United Workers Union in Perth. This event will take place on Tuesday, July 20th from 7pm - 8:15pm ET online and is free and open to new and existing members of the WILL Empower network.

Chanda Parmar-Bonta has spent 23 years organizing in the UK and Australia and is proud to fight for worker justice by building power and unity between a diverse group of workers.

A British-born woman of Indian descent, Chanda has called Perth, Western Australia home for the last 15 years. During her time in Perth, she has organized with textiles workers, bus drivers, hospital support workers, early childhood educators, and others. With these groups she had advocated for fair wages, visa amnesty, racial justice, and, particularly importantly, a change in outcomes for the First Nations Peoples in Australia.

Chanda believes, “Collaboration builds bridges, connections, hope and solidarity. All are key ingredients in our work. Solidarity is unbreakable and that is our power!"
