Akhila Naik has extensive experience in academic, legal, corporate and federal agencies. As a licensed attorney, she practiced civil and criminal law for nearly a decade. She also taught various courses at Rider University before joining Rutgers. Most recently, before her current role at Rutgers, she was an Associate Mediator at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). At the EEOC, she mediated complex employment discrimination cases for the New York District. 

At Rutgers, in addition to her role as Director, she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Labor Studies and Employment Relations (LSER). She specializes in areas related to Employment Law, Immigration Law and other topics involving Discrimination and Stereotypes in the Workplace. She also conducts seminars and professional continuing education courses for the Labor Education Action Research Network (LEARN) program in areas of the law that address workplace bias and prevention of discrimination. She oversees the Global Study Abroad program for the LSER Department.  

She is an experienced cross-cultural consultant and conducts diversity trainings for various corporations and organizations. She volunteers as a career coach for the New Start Career Network at the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development. She speaks six languages and loves to travel.
