What is the SMLR Mentorship Program?

The SMLR Mentorship Program is designed to help connect SMLR students with alumni mentors who are professionals in Human Resources, Labor Relations, and related fields. Mentors share industry knowledge, foster the development and enhancement of career readiness skills, and promote the building of mentee professional networks.

Program Goals

  • Leverage the expertise of successful alumni to the benefit of current SMLR students

  • Provide students with practical advice on how to approach their individual career objectives

  • Complement the Rutgers experience with an eye towards the future

  • Foster a strong sense of community between alumni and students

Program Expectations

  • Mentees will initiate contact with their mentor and be proactive in maintaining the relationship and setting up meetings with the mentor.

  • Mentors and mentees will meet at least 3 times each semester.

  • Mentees will check in with Career Services at least once a semester to provide an update on their experience in the program.
